Summer 2019

This has been one memorable summer for sure. Reached mountain top highs studying and jamming with Tim O’Brien & Jan Fabricus, the Ronstadt Brothers, Che Apalache, Chris Luquette, Ken Kolodner and others at Common Ground on the Hill as well as one of the finest workshops on songwriting I’ve ever attended put on by John Hill of 94.7 WPVC with Nashville legend Pat Alger in Crozet, Va. You can find John on Facebook here: 94.7 FM Charlottesville ; he puts on some great concerts. You’ll find Pat Alger’s name on a lot of those country songs you know every word to (Going Gone, Small Town Saturday Night, Once in a Very Blue Moon). Also had the pleasure of learning from Bruce Molsky and Alison DeGroot at the inaugural Baltimore Old Time Festival, two of the finest old time musicians on the planet.

I want to thank the Baltimore Old Time Festival, Barnhouse Brewery, BikeTrAle Brewery, Black Ankle Winery, the Avalon Foundation at Easton Farm Market, Elk Run Winery, Frederick Coffee Co., Goshen Farm, Perigeaux Vineyards and 49 West for their support of local music. I truly enjoy playing these venues and it’s become more and more apparent over the years that they are enjoyable because the folks who run them are wonderful. Looking ahead, I’m excited to be working with the Focus music series for the first time 11/17/2019 in Alexandria, Va. Thanks, love, kisses, back slaps, high fives, fist bumps, hugs, low fives and more gratitude than I can put into words to all who came out to the shows!

And here’s comes autumn!

Peace,

Michael

Bike TrAle

Love this unique new venue in Leesburg, VA. Great patio; firepit going, nice folks and good times!

Baltimore Old Time Festival

What a great event! Workshops with Alison deGroot and Bruce Molsky, an incredible concert and I even got to play a set in the Cabaret Lounge. Thanks to the Kolodners, staff and volunteers for all their hard work and to Creative Alliance for putting it on!

Black Ankle

This is such an awesome room, you really owe it to yourself to see what’s going on there. Great staff, environmentally forward thinking and good times to boot!

Elk Run

Thanks to Fred and Carol for their continued support of local music and their always welcoming hospitality! Check ’em out!

Bernard Ebb Songwriting Awards

Honored and grateful to be selected as a semifinalist for the 2019 Bernard Ebb Songwriting Award!

2018

Thanks to all for your kind support in 2018. I neglected posts late in the year and would like to take this opportunity to catch up on that, in no special order:

– Thanks to BikeTrAle for having me out, really cool new venue in Leesburg, great staff, great beers. Be sure to check them out in 2019!

– Had a blast at Black Ankle as always. This is such a beautiful spot to relax, you have to be there to appreciate what a fine venue it is! Friendly staff, gorgeous views, a place you will remember.

– Really enjoyed my first time playing at Casanel in Leesburg – great audience and staff, another top notch venue!

– I always love playing Elk Run, one of the finest wineries in Maryland. Fred and Carol are great hosts and this is another place that boasts gorgeous views and is very accessible.

– The World Folk Music Association puts on a fine show every month in Bethesda at the Positano Ristorante Italiano restaurant. If you love good Italian food as much as I do you’re in for a treat. This is a listening room show and you really get a chance to take in some fine songwriters. We had a great time.

Looking forward to seeing you again in 2019! Peace!

Elk Run

No finer hosts than Fred and Carol. The pup dog who slept on my mic stand in December is now near full grown. He came up on the stage before the show to say hello. The rain held off until I was halfway home. It was a good day.

Perigeaux

It’s not often you get to watch people doing yoga with goats while you set up to play. Just saying. Great wine, beautiful views, and yes, yoga with goats.

9 Songwriters at 49 West

Another profound evening with good friends and talented musicians.
